You ever feel like you should be doing more in life?
That's the question I asked myself a few months ago that started my journey of self discovery and landed me on these next steps.
I was going through a phase in my life where I had this feeling that "This can't be it" "There has got to be more to life than working and paying bills" I had reached immeasurable success in my career but had been feeling like I hit a ceiling.
In my searching around I found that the common thread to personal growth and increasing income and impact was to acquire a new high paying skill. Although podcasting isn't one of them, it opened the door to my curiosity.
What new skill am I interested in learning?
I spend a lot of my free time watching videos about personal development, finance and wealth building, business...etc.
Then one day someone mentioned to me about an online digital marketing and e-commerce certification course and I thought myself.. ah-ha! This is it! This is the new skill. While taking the course, I took a special interest in branding. Then enrolled in a personal branding course. That's where I learned about a Thought Leader Career. Making a career out of being an expert.
It was there I learned that I could make money being an expert and practical steps on how to accomplish that goal.
There were two things on the list of five steps. 1. Share valuable long form content (anything over 20 minutes long) weekly content and 2. Share weekly newsletters with your audience linking to that content.
Is it all coming together now?
I had to choose between long form podcast, video, live streaming or a blog. I chose the podcast route, for not at least. For me it's the lowest barrier to entry, I recorded on voice notes from my iphone, no hair and makeup needed. Let's do it!
